# Start with Latchbell 🔔
Latchbell gives a business an AI front desk: it answers the business's calls, texts, page and website chat, and customers' own AI assistants, from what the owner shares, and it books, takes orders and passes the owner the rest. House cleaners can also list firm prices, so customers and their assistants book them directly. Pick what your user wants.

## Set up my business (an owner, any kind of business)
The owner creates the business and signs in only in Latchbell's own window; you do the rest for them. Never ask them for a password, a sign-in code or a key in the chat.
- **You can add an app or connector with sign-in** (ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Claude Code and other MCP clients): add the MCP server https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/mcp. In Latchbell's sign-in window the owner chooses "I run a business", then "New to Latchbell?", and creates the business there (its name, their name, email, mobile, ZIP and kind of business). Then follow https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/business.md from "2. Set up".
- **You have a shell:** https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/business.md from the start (`node latchbell.mjs signin new` opens the same window).
- **You only browse or chat** (Muse, the Grok bot, a search assistant): send the owner to https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/app/front-desk. They enter the business (the kind of business, its name, their name, email, mobile and ZIP), then what it should know (a website, photos, files or notes), and the AI starts answering on their free page. If they use ChatGPT, Claude or Meta AI, they can connect it later from their dashboard (Settings › AI assistants).
Free to start; phone answering is a paid plan (https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/pricing). Once you're signed in, `receptionist_readiness` says which of chats, calls and texts are answered and what's left.

## List my cleaning business (house cleaners, at their own prices)
Customers and their assistants (ChatGPT, Muse, Claude) book a listed cleaner at the cleaner's firm prices, in the hours they open. Send the owner to https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/start/cleaning (about 5 minutes): contact details, their website or a Thumbtack, Yelp, Google or Facebook profile, the ZIP codes they serve, their prices and their hours. They confirm the prices and the terms themselves. Their booking link works at once; they show in search once Latchbell has checked their website or profile. ## Book (a customer)
- **A house cleaner:** `find_cleaners` with the ZIP and the home, then `book_cleaning` once your user agrees: https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/skill.md. No key and no account.
- **A business on Latchbell** (a salon, a shop, a restaurant, a repair shop): its link names it (`https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/b/<slug>` or `https://<slug>-stagingagents.latchbell.com`). Call `business_info` with that slug, then the booking or ordering tool it names: "Book, order or ask at any other business" in https://stagingagents.latchbell.com/skill.md.
